Adoption and Foster
Life on the streets is not easy, with dangers, disease, and lack of food being a part of life. Shelters do their best, but they constantly deal with not enough funding and not enough room. With feral cat colonies all over Long Beach and the surrounding areas, we do our best to help with spay and neuter programs. Reducing the number of kittens (and puppies) born is the best way to help with the very sad problem of perfectly healthy animals being euthanized at shelters, or left to fend for themselves on the streets.
Adult feral cats are typically released back to their familiar neighborhood after being fixed. For kittens and younger cats that seem friendly and adoptable, we try to find them forever homes. Please see our pictures of our current residents up for adoption. We do help with dogs as well, but due to our own housing limits we focus on cats.

Sassafrass
Hello, my name is Sassafras. I love to be scratched on my cheeks and back, but also love to be lazy and sleep in a soft kitty bed for hours. After sleeping so long, I love to get some exercise and play with toys or my people. Before all this luxury, I lived outside with my cat family, and life was really hard for me. I was really sick, but I am a tough girl (and adorable, I must say), and I became strong with the help of some humans. My family always told me humans were bad, but I am so happy to be alive thanks to them!
I am ready for and really want to find my forever home.

Senior Assistance
The Heart of Ida
Helping older adults preserve independence as long as possible, and provide cheer when assisted living is necessary.
Ida Alice Reich was a community activist that spent the majority of her time on earth helping those in need.
Every year, Ida took her two granddaughters, Dina and Keri, to help deliver gifts to nursing homes. Those visits changed the lives of Dina and Keri. In honor of their grandmother, they started a nonprofit organization, Heart of Ida.
